“Norma” is a tragic opera written in 1831 by Vincenzo Bellini. He was a pretty famous guy – because this great composer also had a drink named after him!
The Metropolitan Opera just announced that Norma would open its 2017 season. And to celebrate, we’ve placed Rigatoni alla Norma on our new menu. It is made with eggplant, genuine San Marzano tomatoes, basil, ricotta salata and a touch of chile. A perfect cool-weather dish even if you’re not a vegetarian.
Speaking of opera composers, we also have an Autumn Bellini on the bar menu – made with sparkling Prosecco, fig syrup and vodka.
So whet your whistle with a Bellini, then stay for Rigatoni all Norma.
And what would we do for an encore? Next month we’ll serve Spaghetti Caruso — named for the unparalleled Italian tenor — made with mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic rosemary and chicken livers. Bravo!
